Chest Board Alignment Solution

There are many different ways to mount the chest board to a wall, that’s the easy part. The trick is how do you mount it to the wall and keep the alignment to the x-ray center line or make small adjustments if the alignment is off. Many years ago one of our service technicians learned a very simple and effective way to mount the chest board to any wall using hardware that would allow for adjustments to alignment at anytime quickly and easily. We mount a piece of uni-strut or superstrut (Fastenal item #48271) on the wall between two wall studs or directly to a concrete block wall. The chest board is attached to the uni-strut using 1/4″ bolts and spring nuts (Fastenal item #48601). Because the uni-strut is a piece of channel the spring bolts (and chest board) can slide left and right by simply loosening the nuts. You can mount the chest board at anytime during the installation and make fine adjustments to align it to the x-ray center line later on. If for some reason years later you need to shift the chest board, you simply loosen the bolts, slide the chest board to where it needs to be and re-tighten the bolts. After all adjustments are completed you can snap a plastic cover (Fastenal item #49245) over the channel and an end cap (Fastenal item #11241067) on the channel and paint them to match the wall. It’s the easiest way we’ve found to mount a chest board and make alignment adjustments without drilling new holes in the wall. Take a look at some of the pictures below and feel free to give us your feedback.
